What is the Real Fans Poll?
ShooWin’s Real Fans Poll is a weekly forecast of the top three teams that are predicted to reach a certain postseason game. The ShooWin data is compiled from its patented platform which measures fan behavior, by team, for almost every postseason pro and college game. The Real Fans Poll is paired against well-known sports writers or analysts’ predictions for the same postseason games to see if Real Fans know better than the experts.
We’re now in the second half of both the NCAAF and NFL seasons. Let’s take a look at this week's “Real Fans” poll.
The ACC is starting to take form and Clemson is clearly the top contender in the conference. Both the fans and this week’s NCAA expert, Sportingnews.com’s Zac Al-Khateeb, agree that Clemson is far and away the best the ACC has to offer. With Clemson the clear favorite to represent the Atlantic in the ACC Championship Game, the fans have two teams in the Coastal as their second and third rated teams in the conference, Virginia Tech and Miami respectively. Khateeb has Virginia as his number two team out of the ACC and the top team in the Coastal, with Syracuse as his third overall in the conference.
The SEC has the biggest matchup of the season this weekend when Alabama takes on LSU. It’s no arguing that both the fans and Khateeb have Alabama as their top team in the SEC. The disparity, however, comes with the next two teams. ShooWin fans have Georgia as their number two SEC team, followed by Florida. Khateeb currently has LSU as his number two, ahead of Georgia. This weekend’s Alabama LSU game will have a huge impact on the SEC’s Championship Game.
Looking at the NFL, the NFC playoff race is highly competitive this season. This week’s NFL expert is CBSsports.com’s, Pete Prisco. While the undefeated Los Angeles Rams are the clear favorite for both the fans and Prisco, there seems to be a disagreement over which teams are the most likely to compete with the Rams this season. Despite last weeks heartbreaking loss to the Rams, fans are still riding high on the Green Bay Packers as they remain their number two team. Prisco disagrees, with the one-loss New Orleans Saints coming in as his number two team, whom the fans have at number three. Prisco’s third-ranked team is perhaps this season's most surprising team, the Washington Redskins.
